The Atlanta Falcons and running back Bijan Robinson have agreed to a 3-year contract extension worth up to $75 million, which comes after Robinson reported to training camp but did not participate in on-field drills while negotiations continued, bringing an end to his brief contract-related hold-in. The contract includes $51 million in guaranteed money and a $37 million signing bonus, making Robinson the highest-paid running back in league history – surpassing previous benchmarks established by Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey.

Robinson, the No. 8 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, earned first-team All-Pro honors after a dominant 2025 campaign in which he led the NFL with 2,298 yards from scrimmage while totaling 11 touchdowns. The 24-year-old has developed into one of the league’s most versatile offensive threats, combining elite rushing ability with standout production as a receiver. Atlanta had already exercised his fifth-year contract option for the 2027 season before reaching the new agreement, ensuring the franchise cornerstone remains under team control for years to come.

The extension continues the Falcons’ offseason commitment to keeping their young offensive core together. Robinson joins wide receiver Drake London, tight end Kyle Pitts and offensive lineman Matthew Bergeron among Atlanta’s recent long-term signings as the organization builds around its homegrown talent. With Tyler Allgeier no longer on the roster, Robinson is expected to headline a revamped backfield entering the 2026 season.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski said Robinson will be eased back into practice following the completion of the deal, with the Falcons taking a measured approach before their Sept. 13 regular-season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
