The Green Bay Packers announced Thursday they have placed tackle David Bakhtiari on injured reserve due to a lingering knee injury.

Bakhtiari missed the team’s Week 2 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons and Week 3’s against the New Orleans Saints, before the team ultimately decided to put him on IR for the next month or so, meaning he’ll be required to miss a minimum of four games. NFL Media reported that the earliest Bakhtiari could technically return to the field is Week 9 against the Rams, but it’s unclear when or if he’ll return this season.

Bakhtiari has spent his entire career with Green Bay, and during his tenure he’s earned three Pro Bowl nods along with his All-Pro accolades. However, Bakhtiari’s health has plagued him over the past few seasons — in 2020, he tore his ACL in practice and was ruled out for the remainder of that season, and be played just one game the following year. In 2022, he appeared in 11 of the Packers 18 regular-season contests.
